Inspiration

How does one come about creating an idea?

Where does inspiration come from?

Does adding three exclamation marks at the end of a sentence lower your IQ!!!?

I often getting the visual equivalent of writers block (...drawers blank?...) and if the talent of others can't drag my sorry ass through the quagmire then I find abject misery an adequate substitute.

Little tip here...this one's free....if you feel like shit, and choices you make lead to further misery, suffering and bloody knees, get that black book out!

Setik01

Setik01, originally uploaded by Setik01.

Whether in his blackbook or on a grander scale Setik is a force to be reckoned with.
His letter forms flow like cheap cider down the rec on a Saturday night, but the after effects are much more palatable.
He's also extremely efficient, his pieces appearing on a reasuringly regular basis.
Although this piece is monochrome, or black and white if you're thick, his colour pieces 'rock'...raise the two finger horned, devil, dio, salute.

I notice he has a blog too, so I'd be wise and check that out too....cos if you don't you might catch the mange.

Wild style

Actually this isn't really wild style, but legislation dictates the heading for my posts so get over it.

Letter forms, the manipulation of said objects and the interaction between the objects on the page make graffiti a constant artwork of creativity, imagination, rebellion and attention to detail.

Hence the reason why I loves it so.

Repeat after me...

Well there's no other way of putting this, so I'll come straight out and say it, I've been a lazy bastiche.
I have ignored you, oh long suffering yet vigilant observer (I'm clearly talking only to myself in this instance) and denied you the visual experience you clearly merit.
As reward for my negligence I offer you not one, not three, but two recent sketches upon which to gorge.
Both share a similar theme, that of a repeat pattern...sort of.
I enjoy that create yet repetitive process of repeating themes or images...my patience allows me to switch off yet plow on.
The ladybirds are a radical departure from my rock hard manly image, but this happens on occasion and I always follow it up with the deflowering of local virgins...some of them female.

Enjoy and comment if you are repulsed by my previous statement.

SKETCHBOOK 22

SKETCHBOOK 22, originally uploaded by 23Alan.

He has a curious name and a curious style...yet both make me perspire in not very manly way.
At least 2 of my pics on flickr are massively 'inspired' (coughs*Rippofff*) by this genius in a blackbook and I hope he goes on creating and inspiring others to do likewise.
I'd describe his style as cute gone apeshit and his characters, colouring and all round expertise are amazing.

Writing this post with a virus on my computer means some letters appear as numbers and my spellchecker might melt.

Please click on Alan23's sketch which will link him to other stuff.
Gracias

Cthulu

Some of my favourite pieces have been plucked from complete obscurity and vomited onto the page totally by chance. Old squid face here is proof of that. Christened after H.P.Lovecraft and as much a product of testing new markers as any need to explore the myth he's proved rather popular over on Flickr.
I'm trying to draw every day now..compulsion is a wonderful if not entirely creative process, and increase the number of techniques I'm using.
Little chance of that though...I'm a sucker for safe working practices and need to escape my shell a little.

Embroidery patterns maybe...

Bored to death

Bored to death, originally uploaded by bitsOfBobs.

Discovered this little nugget as I was browsing the highways and byways of flickr....what is a byway?
Illustrated/illuminated by Bits of Bobs it is everything I love about drawing.
Detailed, interesting, humorous, persistent yet utterly irrelevant.
There are legions of intricate little skulls all cascading across the page like so many winner less lottery tickets.

Check out the bitsofBobs blog too, I imagine it would be rewarding.
Like stealing Pick'n'mix but without the risk of prosecution or guilt.
